Have you ever wanted a prompt from which to write? I have. Not often, mind you, but occasionally. And I’ve found that Pinterest (yes, the massive time-suck) can be quite useful for this. One of my recent favorites was for a superhero:
“Wait, you’re a superhero?”
“How did you not know? My face is literally on the news on a weekly basis.”
“I’m in grad school. I won’t have time to follow popular media until I finish my thesis. You’re lucky I’ve carved out some of my non-existent free time to date you.”
Found at: The Fake Redhead Writes. She has loads of fun prompts to inspire you.
Let’s unpack this prompt that I think would be such fun for a quick little story. In my head, this is Steve Rogers, Captain America, with Darcy Lewis. Truly, it is. I like this because in this case, she (the grad student) has put him in his place – second to her work, her concerns with her thesis. And for anyone that has been to grad school, well, I’m sure you can relate. And she’s such a fun character, irreverent, sassy, and smart. If anyone could be oblivious, I think she could be. Well, Jane could be oblivious as well, but I’m afraid she’s with Thor in my head, always and forever.
But what if it’s Diana Prince/Wonder Woman or Natasha Romanov/Black Widow? Wouldn’t that be fun? Of course, I can’t see them saying exactly that, but what if they were dating someone who just missed it? I like this because women are superheroes too. And why wouldn’t they have an intelligent significant other who didn’t pay attention to the news and social media?
If you’re in the mood for ShieldShock (aka Starcy aka Steve and Darcy), you should check out one of my friends, Ianthe.
Who do you think when you read this prompt? Do you have a favorite prompt? Where do you go for yours?
